Would I recommend? Yes, and the series gets better!
Again, this is a ‘re-read’ as I listened to the audiobook for the first time. Marsters continues to be the best voice for Harry Dresden and I can only picture him now as the lanky, cantankerous wizard.
Onto the book itself!
Fool Moon is a good read, but an interesting decision to have as follow-up to Storm Front. Why do I say that? Well, Storm Front introduces you to the world of wizards and magic, but Fool Moon just throws the door down to werewolves. Storm Front is much more of a mystery novel, Dresden has his own thing going and then works with Karrin and well, plot happens. Fool Moon, there really isn’t a mystery other than figuring out motives. Harry never has his own thing, though is on his own for the entire novel. It simply seems like an extreme escalation to have happen between books one and two.
All that said, Fool Moon is enjoyable. It’s nice to get background information and to see Murphy sticking to her guns. The part I LOVED was actually View Spoiler »the idea that animals have their own form of magic? And that you can have a werewolf be a wolf that turns human, because why can’t that happen? Additionally, the way Dresden describes the difference when he realizes what she is was perfect. I think this tiny piece is what really gives Fool Moon that fourth star. « Hide Spoiler
I really don’t remember what the next book in the series is, but I’m kinda excited to see where it goes from here. I wonder what fantastical creature will be next to be introduced. Vampires or fairies?
